Long Beach, CA –The City of Long Beach is seeking local employers to sign up to participate in a forthcoming job fair for people with disabilities seeking employment. Co-hosted by the City’s Office of Equity and the Citizen’s Advisory Commission on Disability, the job fair will take place in October and will focus on hiring from the local disability talent pool.

“People with disabilities are among the most talented – having to create ways to exist and thrive in a society that often does not meet their basic needs,” said Mayor Rex Richardson. “It’s time employers have an opportunity to hire from this pool of talent, full of untapped potential. I encourage our local businesses to sign up to participate in this job fair.”

With nearly 50,000 residents in Long Beach that identify as having a disability, 33% are unemployed. The job fair will showcase available full-time, part-time and internship opportunities in various industries/fields and offer the chance for people with disabilities to apply for open job opportunities with employers right on the spot and have the chance to interview. Employers interested in participating can register now at pacific-gateway.org/ndeam.

The job fair will take place on Tuesday, October 3, 2023. More information regarding the job fair, including how people with disabilities seeking employment can register to attend, will be provided at a date closer to the job fair.
