Patent office approves 8 patents for Torrance innovators in week ending June 27

Patent 15

There were eight patents granted in Torrance in the week ending June 27, according to the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

This is three more than the week before. Patents included a turbocharger turbine wheel.

The earliest patent filed which was granted in the week ending June 27 belonged to Panasonic Intellectual Property Corporation of America who filed in May 19, 2017.

The number of approved patents in the U.S. grew steadily from roughly 225,000 in 2009 to more than 285,000 in 2019. The number of patents approved suffered a slight downturn in 2020.

Gene Quinn with IPWatchdog said the system underneath patents have become unwieldy, specifically for medical innovations.
