Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metro lag behind New York-Newark-Jersey City in 2019

The Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metro area exported $61 billion in 2019, less than exports from New York-Newark-Jersey City in 2019, according to the International Trade Administration.

A study from the Brookings Institute found competition between areas within the United States increases exports, which in turn generates stronger sales and more jobs for American workers.

The Los Angeles-Long Beach-Anaheim metro area consists of two counties.

The New York-Newark-Jersey City metro area comprises 10 counties exporting $77.8 billion in 2019.

The metro area with the most exports was Houston-The Woodlands-Sugar Land with $129.7 billion exported.
