Prime Video announced on Mar. 31 that it will release a new documentary, “Jerry West: The Logo,” on April 16, focusing on the life and career of former Los Angeles Lakers player and executive Jerry West.

The upcoming film aims to highlight West’s influence in basketball, particularly with the Lakers franchise, where he played a significant role both on the court and in management. The documentary is expected to provide insight into his achievements as well as personal sacrifices made throughout his career.

According to Prime Video, the film will feature interviews with family members, friends, teammates, and colleagues who share previously untold stories about West. Notable figures such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Magic Johnson, and Shaquille O’Neal are set to appear in the documentary to discuss their experiences with him.

West was known for his competitive drive during his playing days with the Lakers. He led the team to its first NBA championship after relocating to Los Angeles and remains recognized for being named Finals MVP despite being on a losing team—a unique distinction in league history. After retiring as a player, he served as coach and general manager for the Lakers before moving on to roles with other teams including the Memphis Grizzlies and Golden State Warriors.

In addition to highlighting West’s legacy, recent performances by current Lakers players continue connecting past legends with present stars. Luka Doncic recently recorded a triple-double that placed him among historic company alongside Magic Johnson, Elgin Baylor, and Jerry West himself.
