Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been named a starter for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game, according to an announcement made on NBC and Peacock. Doncic will represent the Western Conference alongside Nikola Jokic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Victor Wembanyama, and Stephen Curry. The Eastern Conference starters include Giannis Antetokounmpo, Jalen Brunson, Cade Cunningham, Tyrese Maxey, and Jaylen Brown.

Doncic led all players in fan voting throughout the selection process. He is the only Lakers player among this year’s starters; LeBron James and Austin Reaves were not selected due to missed games. James was absent at the start of the 2025-26 season, while Reaves has been sidelined with a calf injury. Despite some time missed himself due to minor injuries, Doncic has remained a consistent presence for Los Angeles.

On the court, Doncic currently leads the league in scoring with an average of 33.3 points per game. His improved conditioning has allowed him to play longer stretches at a high level.

The 2026 NBA All-Star Weekend will take place in Los Angeles. This year introduces a new format where Doncic will play for the World team against American players.

Although Doncic’s individual performance has been strong, it has not always resulted in wins for the Lakers, who have struggled defensively this season. The upcoming All-Star break may offer the team an opportunity to recover as they look to improve their chances in the remainder of the season.

Doncic acknowledged his appreciation for being named the leading vote-getter for this year’s event: “Doncic is quickly finding out how much Lakers fans support their stars. He was the leading vote-getter for the 2026 NBA All-Star Game and he expressed his appreciation for the honor.”
