Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic has been named the NBA’s Western Conference Player of the Week for November 24-30, according to an announcement from the league. Jalen Brunson of the New York Knicks received the Eastern Conference honor.

Doncic posted averages of 37.3 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 10.3 assists over three games during that period. The Lakers won all three matchups, defeating the Los Angeles Clippers and Dallas Mavericks in Emirates NBA Cup group play and securing a victory against the New Orleans Pelicans. Doncic recorded shooting percentages of 48.5% from the field, 45.4% from beyond the arc, and 86.1% at the free throw line.

In a game against the Clippers, Doncic scored 43 points with nine rebounds and 13 assists, falling one rebound short of a triple-double in a win by 17 points. He followed with a performance of 35 points and 11 assists versus his former team, the Mavericks. To close out the week, he tallied 34 points, 12 rebounds, and seven assists in a win over the Pelicans.

Doncic currently leads the NBA in scoring and is fourth in assists this season. He became the first Lakers player to start a season with consecutive games scoring at least 40 points and has entered the franchise’s top ten for most career games with at least that many points. Among active players league-wide, he now ranks fourth for career double-doubles featuring at least 40 points (39 such games).

Additionally, Doncic and teammate Austin Reaves are just the fourth pair in NBA history to each score at least 30 points in three straight games together—a feat previously accomplished by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard (2023), Corey Maggette and Monta Ellis (2010), as well as George Gervin and Mike Mitchell (1984).

This marks Doncic’s first Player of the Week award this season and his fifteenth overall since entering the league. In previous weeks this year, Denver Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic and Oklahoma City Thunder’s Shai Gilgeous-Alexander have shared recent honors; Victor Wembanyama of San Antonio Spurs earned it during opening week.

The Lakers will play four games next week beginning with a home matchup against the Phoenix Suns on Monday night.

Austin Reaves commented on his successful backcourt partnership with Doncic: “Luka Doncic is the star of this Lakers team, but Austin Reaves hasn’t been far behind him with his level of play this season.” Reaves added that their combination has made them “the best offensive backcourt in the NBA this season” due to their complementary styles.
