Luka Doncic broke the Los Angeles Lakers’ single-season record for most made three-pointers in the team’s win against the Miami Heat, according to a March 19 announcement. Doncic surpassed D’Angelo Russell’s previous mark of 226 and will have more opportunities to extend his record with 12 games left in the 2025-26 season.

The achievement highlights Doncic’s impact on the Lakers’ offense as they approach the end of the regular season. His performance from beyond the arc has been a key factor in the team’s recent success and playoff positioning.

Doncic averages over ten three-point attempts per game, making 36.6 percent of them. Since the All-Star break, he has improved his accuracy to over forty percent from long range. Other players who have held high spots on the Lakers’ single-season three-point list include Austin Reaves, Nick Van Exel, and Kobe Bryant.

Currently, Doncic is on track to lead the league in scoring for a second time in his career. His ability to score from all areas of the court has made it difficult for opposing defenses to contain him. The Lakers have also shown improvement on defense during this stretch.

In addition to breaking records, Doncic scored sixty points against Miami and recently became the first player in NBA history to record more than two hundred fifty points, fifty rebounds, fifty assists, and twenty-five made three-pointers over a seven-game undefeated span. LeBron James also set a milestone by becoming the oldest player in NBA history to score thirty or more points while shooting over ninety percent from the field.

With these performances, Doncic has entered discussions for Most Valuable Player alongside Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Nikola Jokic as observers watch how he finishes out this historic season.
