The Los Angeles Lakers announced on Mar. 19 that LeBron James, Luka Doncic, and Austin Reaves will be available to play in Thursday night’s game against the Miami Heat after initially being listed as questionable due to injuries.
This update comes as the Lakers face a quick turnaround, having arrived in Miami at 5 a.m. local time following their win over the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night. The team is currently riding a season-high seven-game winning streak.
James will participate in his fifth consecutive game since missing three games because of a right hip contusion and left foot arthritis. During his return, the Lakers have continued their winning streak. In the recent victory over Houston, James scored 30 points with an efficient shooting performance and several dunks but was seen icing his elbow and knees after taking a hard fall late in the game.
Doncic also had a strong showing against Houston with 40 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. Despite not feeling completely healthy after the game, both he and Reaves are set to play against Miami.
With several key players managing injuries, there may be opportunities for others such as Deandre Ayton, Marcus Smart, Rui Hachimura, and Luke Kennard to contribute significantly. The Lakers aim to extend their win streak against a Heat team looking to recover from two straight losses but who previously won seven consecutive games themselves.
In related news, LeBron James addressed speculation about his involvement with an NBA expansion team in Las Vegas. While he has expressed interest in owning a franchise post-retirement, he clarified that this is not currently planned.
