Los Angeles Lakers Governor Jeanie Buss expressed support on May 29 for superstar guard Luka Doncic’s recent purchase of the northern Italian basketball team Vanoli Cremona. The Lakers organization has consistently shown support for Doncic, including traveling to EuroBasket and ensuring he could be present in Slovenia for the birth of his daughter.

Doncic plans to move Vanoli Cremona to Rome with the intention of joining a potential NBA European league. Buss responded positively on social media after Doncic announced his efforts to bring basketball to Rome, writing, “Love this!”

Buss has frequently spoken highly of Doncic since he joined the Lakers and has led organizational support for him. Owning a European team has been a long-time dream for Doncic, who began his career in Europe with Real Madrid. At age 19, he led Real Madrid to a EuroLeague Championship and was named EuroLeague MVP.

The Lakers have maintained a tradition of supporting their franchise players both during and after their careers. The organization is known for fostering a family-like environment, welcoming back players who have contributed significantly over the years. This approach extends to Doncic as he embarks on this new venture.

While Doncic intends to be actively involved as an owner and develop Vanoli Cremona over time, he emphasized that his main focus remains winning an NBA championship with the Lakers.
