Jake LaRavia said on March 10 that he remains confident in his shooting abilities, despite experiencing a challenging season from beyond the arc with the Los Angeles Lakers. The forward, who has played every game this season, acknowledged after practice that his outside shot has not been falling but emphasized his trust in the work he puts in behind the scenes.

LaRavia’s role as a versatile player has made him valuable to the Lakers during the 2025-26 season. Head coach JJ Redick has praised LaRavia for fulfilling various responsibilities and contributing physicality and effort on both ends of the floor. As the team aims for a late-season playoff push, LaRavia is expected to continue playing an important part off the bench.

“Just shooting it to be honest. Trusting the work that I put in,” LaRavia said. “Obviously, having a pretty not so great shooting year but I’m staying confident in the process and trusting in my shot. The team and the coaches and everyone knows how good of a shooter I am. It’s just when the game time comes they haven’t been falling, so just continue to trust the process and stay confident in that and shots will fall.”

This season, LaRavia is shooting 46.3 percent from the field but only 32.2 percent from three-point range. He often finds himself open as defenses focus on teammates Luka Doncic, Austin Reaves, and LeBron James; however, his attempts have not consistently resulted in points recently.

Fatigue may be a factor since LaRavia is currently the only Laker to appear in every game this season, which could affect his performance from long distance. Despite these challenges, he continues to be an important contributor for Los Angeles as they approach the end of the regular season.

Reflecting on his return home to southern California, LaRavia said he takes pride in wearing a Lakers jersey and being part of his hometown team.
