LeBron James became the National Basketball Association’s all-time leader in games played during the Los Angeles Lakers’ victory over the Orlando Magic, according to a Mar. 23 report. Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki, who was present at the game in Orlando, praised James for his longevity and high level of play.
James surpassed Robert Parish’s previous record as he took the court on Saturday night. Few players have reached such longevity in their careers, with Nowitzki himself being one of them. Nowitzki said, “LeBron’s been incredible… Super happy for him and it’s fun to watch.”
The achievement highlights James’ continued excellence even late into his career. While other superstars like Kobe Bryant and Vince Carter were less effective during their final seasons, James remains among the league’s top players despite his age.
James now holds records for both games played and minutes played in regular season and playoff history. This underscores not only his durability but also his ability to maintain a high standard of performance against younger competitors.
After the game, which ended with a buzzer-beating three-pointer by Luke Kennard that extended the Lakers’ win streak, James shared his perspective on the decisive play that secured their victory over Orlando.
