Del Rey MD is a sinus, allergy, and ENT practice with three locations in the greater Los Angeles area that offers minimally invasive sinus procedures, including balloon sinus dilation. Dr. Farhad Sigari said the ideal patient for balloon sinus dilation is anyone who isn’t breathing well.

“The ideal patient is anyone who has been dealing with sinus issues for more than three months or anyone who has noticed that something’s not right in their breathing,” Dr. Sigari told South Bay Leader. “Most of the majority population, if they don’t have a significant lung disease, asthma, or some other significant issue, should be able to breathe well through their nose, whether it’s day or night.”

According to Del Rey MD’s website, Dr. Sigari received his undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from the University of California, San Diego, where he garnered recognition for his award-winning research in heart disease. He received his medical education at Chicago Medical School, achieving degrees in medicine, applied physiology, and pathology. During this time, Dr. Sigari received honors, including the Dean’s Award and the Alpha Omega Alpha Award. He then proceeded to complete his surgical internship training, specializing in otolaryngology and head and neck surgery, at the University of Chicago Hospital.

Del Rey MD has three locations, consisting of Marina Del Rey/Los Angeles, Long Beach, and Bakersfield, according to the company website. The clinics offer treatment for sinus conditions, ear, nose, and throat conditions, nasal conditions, and nasal allergy relief. They also offer balloon sinus dilation, a minimally invasive procedure to treat sinusitis that is done in-office. The procedure typically doesn’t require general anesthesia, and many patients are able to resume normal activities within 24 hours.

According to Nuffield Health, balloon sinus dilation is a safe and minimally invasive procedure utilized by surgeons to address chronic sinusitis. During the process, doctors insert a guide wire equipped with a small balloon into the nostrils and navigate it to the area of blockage. The balloon is gently inflated enough to open the sinuses.
