Deandre Ayton played a key role in the Los Angeles Lakers’ recent victory over the Toronto Raptors, finishing with 25 points and 13 rebounds while making all 10 of his field-goal attempts. This performance made him the first player this season to achieve a 20-point game on perfect shooting with at least 10 field-goal attempts, and only the 34th player in NBA history to do so while also collecting at least 10 rebounds.
Ayton’s accomplishment places him among select company in Lakers history. He is now just the third Laker to shoot 100% from the field on at least 10 attempts and record at least 10 rebounds, joining Wilt Chamberlain (March 11, 1969) and Mitch Kupchak (November 20, 1981).
Reflecting on his achievement, Ayton said: “I’m not gonna lie, that’s pretty cool. But I definitely give it up to my teammates they find me in the most easiest spots ever and I got some easy ones tonight, for sure.”
He further commented on being included alongside Lakers legends: “That’s things I never even thought I would be a part of. I’m definitely honored and appreciative. I love this game, so hopefully I get more of those.”
The Lakers’ defense was also notable during this game as they held Toronto to just 93 points—L.A.’s best defensive showing of the season. Ayton credited both team defense and contributions from Luka Doncic and LeBron James for creating offensive opportunities.
“It started with our defense, bringing energy to the ball. Guys cutting, moving energy, ball-finding energy and that’s what happened tonight. Luka and Bron putting pressure on the opponents and in their paint, spreading off of threes, getting lobs and dump balls in the dunker. It was all in the rhythm today,” he said.
With an eight-game road trip ahead following recent struggles by the team, Ayton stressed maintaining focus: “Keep going. Just keep going. Play hard every day. Yep, that’s about it,” he stated after defeating Toronto.
